On March 16 and 17, 2023, the 2nd edition of the “Expo Alfalfa”organized by the Government of San Luis and Agrozal Sapem.
The meeting will take place at the “Don Hugo” experimental field, located at KM 718 of National Route 8, north of Villa Mercedes (Saint Louis).
According to the organizers, this year’s program is made up of local, national and international speakers, who will address topics such as:
- Alfalfa Economy
- Effects of the pandemic on the logistics chain
- Evolution of foreign trade in Argentina
- Fertilization and new technologies
- Challenges and opportunities for the production and export of alfalfa in Argentina
- Economic impact on meat and milk production by different qualities of hay
- Comparative tests of performance, persistence and adaptability
Among the exhibitors will be: Juan Vasquetto, economist, agribusiness specialist and marketing advisor; Gustavo Pardo, CEO of Grow Frams (Spain); Ezequiel García Corado, specialist in foreign trade, logistics and customs; Alfredo Abboud, president of the Argentine Company of alfalfa and fodder; Mario Funes and Federico Costanzo, Laura Guzmán and Alejandro Vergés, from INTA, ALFAZAL; Carlos Seggiaro, economist; Ariel Odorizzi and Daniel Basigalup from INTA; Martín Aguirrezabala, from ALFAZAL; Paul Sepulveda, doctor of technology TS Swiss innovation SPA and Mjail Abdelahad from the Secretariat of San Luis Logística.

During the 2021 edition, attended by more than 300 producers, agronomists and businessmen related to alfalfa to learn more about the “queen of forages”.

“From the El Morro Basin to the World” was the slogan chosen for the first edition, which added information through expert dissertations, and with field trips to experience what happens in each phase of the production of this perennial pasturehighly requested by the countries of the Middle East, to which San Luis has already been exporting since 2019.
Within this framework, it is also worth mentioning that the Expo is an action that stems from the Pluriannual Plan for alfalfaan initiative of the Government of San Luis aimed at the beginning to correct the water imbalance that is registered in the El Morro Basin.
