Al-Ahly maintained its first position in the defense of its title “Horn of Africa Club”, after winning the CAF Champions League for the ninth time in its history at the expense of Zamalek last Friday.
Al-Ahly added 5 points to its score in the cumulative ranking of CAF, which determines the champion of the 21st century, according to the criteria set by the African Union.
Al-Ahly can add a new point to its balance if it wins the Super Cup at the expense of Nahdet Berkane, and add two points for every victory the team achieves in the Club World Cup.
The clubs’ ranking by the number of points came after Al-Ahly won the African Champions League, as follows.
1- Al-Ahly 76 points
2- The Congolese Mazembe, with 54 points
3- Tunisia’s Etoile Sahel 50 points
4- Tunisia’s Esperance, 49 points
5- Zamalek Al-Masry, 31 points
6- Moroccan Wydad 30 points

In another context, the journalist Omar Rabi` Yassin said that he had contacted Sereno, the striker and star of the South African Sun Downs team, in order to know the latest developments in his negotiations with Al-Ahly club.
Omar Rabih Yassin confirmed in the “Number One” program on Al-Nahar channel: “Sereno Agdali has approached Al-Ahly strongly and Al-Ahly is seeking to join the player this summer.”
He continued: “Al-Ahly is aggressively seeking to include Sereno, and if Al-Ahly did not resolve the Sereto negotiations within 48 hours, the negotiations will be postponed until the next winter transfers.”
He explained: “Sereno and his agent refused to appear in the media out of respect for Al-Ahly and Sun Downs Club.”
He concluded: “Sereno will be a substitute for Geraldo and everyone knows that.”
Private sources revealed that there has been a breakthrough in the past few hours in Al-Ahly and Sun Downs negotiations to include the latter’s player, Augustine Sereno.
The sources said that there is a breakthrough in the possibility of joining Sereno to Al-Ahly. It appeared today after Sun Downs put some of the conditions he wanted, which indicates their conviction to agree to the player’s departure.
