(VOVWORLD) – From June 1 to July 28, the “Red Route” blood donation campaign collected nearly 130,000 units of plasma, the largest amount ever achieved.
The information was released at a conference held yesterday in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, to assess the results of the humanitarian programme.
At the meeting, the organizing committee reported that for almost two months, blood donation activities were carried out in 51 provinces and cities of the country. On average, each one collected more than 200 units of blood. It also highlighted that the “Red Route” program has contributed to minimizing the shortage of vital liquid in hospitals and medical centers and regulating blood flow between localities.
At the same time, the initiative spreads the spirit of humanism, kindness and social responsibility. Vietnam Red Cross Chairwoman Bui Thi Hoa said: “As part of the “Red Tour” programme, localities are organising events to honour and praise outstanding blood donors, as this year marks the 30th anniversary of the voluntary blood donation movement in Vietnam and the 20th anniversary of the International Day for Outstanding Blood Donors.
