“The 2023 NFL Draft: Round 5 Picks and Analysis”

The 5th round of the Draft is here!

136 – Jacksonville Jaguars : Yasir Abdullah – LB – Louisville

The Jaguars start Round 5 with a pure pass rusher that can perform well on coverage.

137 – Washington Commanders (trade with the Buffalo Bills): KJ Henry – EDGE – Clemson

After Myles Murphy and Bryan Breese, KJ Henry is the third Clemson defensive lineman to be called up in this Draft. He’ll bolster Washington’s defensive line, which could lose Chase Young and Montez Sweat after the 2023 season ends.

138 – Indianapolis Colts : Darius Rush – CB – South Carolina

Projected earlier in this Draft, Darius Rush is going to the side of the Colts. He will form a good cornerback duo with the recent drafted Julius Brents.

139 – Arizona Cardinals : Clayton Tune – QB – Houston

A quarterback arrives from the Arizona side to be Kyler Murray’s understudy. Clayton Tune is a passer whose accuracy can be erratic, but has good mobility.

140 – Cleveland Browns : Dorian Thompson-Robinson – QB – UCLA

Another quarterback leaving in this round with Dorian Thompson-Robinson on the Browns side. The player with a double threat profile from UCLA will therefore be a candidate to be DeShaun Watson’s main understudy.

141 – Minnesota Vikings (trade with the Indianapolis Colts): Jaquelin Roy – DT – LSU

Reinforcement on the defensive line on the Minnesota side with a solid player against the run.

142 – Cleveland Browns : Cameron Mitchell – CB – Northwestern

After a quarterback, head to defense for the Browns with a player who will bring versatility to the rotation of the Ohio franchise’s second defensive curtain.

143 – New York Jets : Israel Abanikanda – RB – Pittsburgh

Physical running back, with good game vision and reception skills, Israel Abanikanda will strengthen the Jets running committee.

144 – New England Patriots (exchange with the Las Vegas Raiders): Atonio Mafi – OL – UCLA

Another Patriots offensive lineman. He is the second UCLA offensive lineman named after Jon Gaines, who left for the Cardinals.

145 – Carolina Panthers : Jammie Robinson – S – Florida State

A solid, experienced, versatile and physical player arrives from Carolina’s side to reinforce aerial coverage.

146 – New Orleans Saints : Jordan Howden – S – Minnesota

Capable of blitzing and covering against the run, Jordan Howden is not the typical prototype of an NFL player but can become a good rotation player for a Saints team that needs him on the second defensive curtain.

147 – Tennessee Titans : Josh Whyle – TE – Cincinnati

A new target for the Titans with Josh Whyle. The slender tight-end will bring his capacity in reception despite average capacities to block.

148 – Chicago Bears : Noah Sewell – LB – Oregon

The former Ducks will face his brother Penei twice with the Chicago Bears. Despite a rocky 2022 season, he remains a linebacker with great potential.

149 – Green Bay Packers : Sean Clifford – QB – Penn State

Another quarterback leaving in this round with the selection of Sean Clifford by the Packers. An old-school quarterback who played a lot in college, but whose potential can be questioned.

150 – Buffalo Bills (trade with Washington Commanders): Justin Shorter – WR – Florida

A former star in high school, he never got to show his potential in Florida. The receiver will add depth to a quality position with the Bills.

151 – Seattle Seahawks : Mike Morris – EDGE – Michigan

Expected much higher, the physical Mike Morris strengthens the defensive line of the Seahawks.

152 – Detroit Lions
