“According to preliminary estimates, the budget of the NATO summit can reach 30 million euros,” the ministry answered the BNS question.
The Ministry has indicated that the costs of the summit will be covered by the host country and that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will administer the majority of the funds intended to cover the expenses, while about a third will be administered by the Security Service of the Highest Officials, as well as the Ministries of the Interior and Defense.
The exhibition and congress complex “Litexpo” has been selected as the venue for the alliance summit.
The Ministry emphasized that Lithuania is capable of organizing an event of this scale, but admitted that it will be necessary to overcome the problems caused by the unstable geopolitical and economic situation.
The next NATO summit is scheduled for June 2023 in Lithuania.
