The 2023 Hangzhou International Electronic Music Festival (MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU) will be grandly presented at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music from October 24 to 29, 2023.
Hangzhou International Electronic Music Festival is jointly held by Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, International Electronic Music Federation, Electronic Music Society of Chinese Musicians Association and other units. A series of activities such as work concerts, master class lectures, international electronic music competitions and academic paper awards, “electronic music and artificial intelligence” annual theme summit, “electronic music and stage art” special forums, etc., realize the integration of music art and science and technology. Integrating innovation, academic frontiers and applied practices fly together, and traditional culture and contemporary spirit interact and symphony.
During the festival, the 2023 Hangzhou International Electronic Music Composition Competition will be held, including on-site scoring by international judges and work review sessions at the final site. We are now soliciting works from young composers around the world. The rules are as follows:
1. The competition is jointly organized by the Hangzhou International Electronic Music Festival Organizing Committee and the International Electronic Music Federation, with the Electronic Music Society of the Chinese Musicians Association as the support and professional guidance unit. In order to reflect the authority and internationalization of the competition, the organizing committee will hire musicians of different nationalities as judges.
2. This competition is open to all young composers under the age of 40, regardless of nationality.
3. The competition is divided into two categories: academic electronic music and applied electronic music: academic electronic music is subdivided into three groups, A, B, and C; applied electronic music is divided into two groups, D and E. The specific groups are as follows:
Group A: Acousmatic/Electroacoustic Music
Group B: Mixed electronic music works combined with live instruments or vocals (Electroacoustic Music with Live Performance)
Group C: Multimedia electronic music works combined with visual images (Electroacoustic Music with Image)
Group D: Applied Electronic Music
Group E: Application/Songwriting and Production
4. In order to ensure the fairness of the selection work, the selection work will be conducted anonymously. The list of winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the music festival, and award certificates and bonuses will be awarded; the winning works will be published on the official website, and will be compiled and published by the Hangzhou International Electronic Music Festival Organizing Committee or arranged for concert performances.
