The 2023 Annual Barometer: Grenoble Ranks 2nd in Most Expensive Cities for Parking

Specialist in parking rental by the month and by the hour, the start-up Zenpark has just published its annual barometer of the ten most expensive cities to park on time. And Grenoble finished on 2nd place on the podium, tied with Rennes, with an average cost of €2.50 for one hour of parking (€2 in green zone, €3 in purple and orange zones), behind Paris at €5 and ahead of Bordeaux where the average cost is €2.15. Rates stable compared to last year, except in Rennes where the cost per hour increased from €1.55 to €2.50.

In the capital, the post-parking fee (set by each municipality) amounts to €75 or €50 depending on the area. In other cities in the top 5, such as Grenoble, it costs €35 if you exceed the paid time.

To develop its ranking, Zenpark carried out a study to determine the average hourly on-street parking rates in major cities in France in 2023.

In Grenoble, in the green zone, parking is paid from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. every day except Sundays and public holidays. In the purple and orange zones, it remains charged continuously from Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a half price between 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and free on Sundays and public holidays. 20 minutes are free once per day per vehicle. It is possible to pay the parking fee directly at the parking meter (by coins in the green zone; by coins and contact or contactless bank card in the orange and purple zones) or remotely in all zones using the mobile application Paybyphone.
