It turns out that the 2022 League of Legends World Championships will be held in North America.
Chris Greely, LCS Commissioner at Riot Games, confirmed in an interview with content creator Travis Gafford that the hugely popular international tournament series will take place in several unannounced cities across the continent. Of course, all of this is enabled by COVID-19, but still: it’s a big deal! North America has not hosted a League of Legends tournament of this magnitude since the 2016 World Championships in Los Angeles.
Check out the clip from Gafford’s interview where Greely broke the news yourself below.

There has been a lot of fan speculation that the 2022 League of Legends World Championships are already happening in the region, but now it’s a certainty. No news yet on which cities will host the events, but at least League of Legends fans in North America won’t have to travel far to attend this time around.
