The organizers of the Grammy Awards postponed this Wednesday the musical awards gala that was scheduled for January 31, due to the “uncertainty around the omicron variant” that has increased the cases of covid-19 in the United States in recent weeks .
“Doing the show on January 31 involves too many risks,” according to a statement from the American Recording Academy, which added that it will announce a new date for the ceremony “soon.”
“The health and safety of members of our music community, the live audience and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority,” added members of the organization.
According to the academy, the 64th edition of the ceremony will be announced until the final decisions are made.
