The interim prime minister, PNL president Florin Cîţu, announces that he will not be part of the future Executive and excludes the possibility of concluding an alliance with PSD, News.ro announces.
“The 2021 congress was about my fight with PSD. The fact that PSD took me down, together with USR, is clear that there is no compatibility here “, says Cîţu.
Asked, on Sunday, at the entrance to the PNL headquarters, if he wants to be part of a future government led by Nicole Ciucă, Cîţu specified: “No. In this office by no means. We have so much to do with the party… Already, today is about a month since we finished the PNL Congress. There is a lot of work for the party, so it is not in question “, reports Agerpres.
Referring to a possible takeover of the position of President of the Senate after he will install a PNL-UDMR Government, Cîţu said: “A vote is needed. Here we will see if there will be a vote, if I will submit my candidacy, there are other discussions here. But for now, (…) there is no such thing. I focus every day to have the majority needed to get past this government. It is very important. You will see that there are measures in the governing program that I am sure the USR will support, important measures that we have negotiated together in the past. So, I don’t think there’s a problem there either. “
Florin Cîţu announced that he will not be part of the future Executive, but he is working together with the Prime Minister appointed to outline a majority to support the Government.
Asked if he excludes that, after the transition period, PSD and PNL will enter government together, Cîţu stated: “The motion, the whole Congress of 2021, was about my fight with PSD. The fact that PSD took me down, together with USR, is clear that there is no compatibility here. Regarding the future, PNL has a very clear message: we are here to implement liberalism in Romania. Which means that things are not compatible with what PSD has said so far “.
Cîţu called for party responsibility to overcome this difficult situation with a government with full powers.
