The 1st Women’s Basketball Bundesliga 2019/20 was the 49th season of the highest German league in women’s basketball. The Herner TC players started the season as reigning champions and cup winners. The three clubs GiroLive-Panthers Osnabrücker SC, Bascats USC Heidelberg and Gisa Lions SV Halle were promoted to the Bundesliga. The main round started as planned in September 2019, but was canceled with immediate effect on March 12, 2020 in view of the developments in the corona pandemic. The Final Four tournament for the DBBL Cup was also canceled but was rescheduled for October 2020 in Nördlingen.[1]
The main round of the 2019/20 season began on September 21, 2019 and was canceled on March 12, 2020 before the 22nd matchday. After 21 of 22 match days, the following unofficial final table for the main round of the 2019/20 season emerged: [2]

According to the DBBL’s official statement at the end of the 2019/2020 season, the following effects of the cancellation of the season were determined: [3]
The 2019/20 season was canceled before matchday 22. There is no final table in the 1st DBBL and the 2nd DBBL North and South for this season. There is therefore no champion in the 1st DBBL and 2nd DBBL. There are no sporting relegations from the 1st DBBL and 2nd DBBL. There is no sporting newcomer from the 2nd DBBL to the 1st DBBL.
The Final Four tournament for the DBBL Cup of the 2021/22 season was originally scheduled to be held in Keltern on March 21st and 22nd, 2020. However, the tournament was canceled in view of the developments in the corona pandemic and instead was rescheduled for the weekend of October 17th and 18th, 2020 in Nördlingen. Participating teams were TSV 1880 Wasserburg, TK Hannover, Rutronik Stars Keltern and the hosts, the XCYDE Angels Nördlingen.[4]
In the first semi-final, the heavy favorite Rutronik Stars Keltern ultimately clearly prevailed against the decimated team from Hanover with a score of 102:83. The Wasserburgers won the second semi-final between the two Bavarian first division teams TSV 1880 Wasserburg and XCYDE Angels Nördlingenn with 93:81 against the hosts.[5]
TK Hannover won the game for third place on Sunday with 86:79 against the hosts and thus secured the bronze medal. In the final, the Rutronik Stars Keltern managed to defeat TSV 1880 Wasserburg in a German Cup final for the first time after 2016, 2017 and 2018 (final score 76:68). The Rutronik Stars Keltern won their second national title after the 2018 German championship title at the weekend in Nördlingen.[6]
