The Prey series has an incredibly strange and sad history. The franchise can truly be called a “victim” of the video game industry. The development of the first part began in the mid-90s, then stalled, the game changed engines, the concept, and in 2006 it finally came to release.
But after that, the franchise started having other problems: the sequel also stalled in production, and then was canceled altogether. In 2017, Prey from Arkane was released, which is associated with the original game only by name, and the French studio did not want the shooter to receive such a name until the very last.
Now gamers can get acquainted with the demo prototype of the 1995 game. It was leaked to the network and is available for downloads from everyone. It has very little content – one big level with no gameplay. However, even such content will interest those who love the history of video games.
At the moment, only Prey 2017 is officially available. GOG also doesn’t have a 2006 shooter.
