The 19 great parks of the capital which remained closed since the start of the state of alarm as a result of the coronavirus will open their doors this Monday coinciding with the entry of the Community of Madrid in phase 1 of the de-escalation.
In this way, starting Monday, Madrid residents will be able to go for a walk or practice sports in El Retiro, Fuente del Berro, Capricho, Quinta los Molinos, Sabatini, Juan Carlos I, Juan Pablo II, Viveros Casa Campo, Viveros Estufas, Rosaleda, Valdebebas, Finca Tres Cantos, West, East, Dehesa de la Villa, Madrid Río, Casa de Campo and Lineal del Manzanares. For its part, the Torre Arias park will open at its regular hours starting on Tuesday, although the children’s and sports areas of all of them will remain marked out, preventing access, reports Europa Pres.
These parks, of historical and singular character, have been maintained closed to avoid crowds and now they are added to the green and landscaped areas of the city that have been in operation since May 8.
Both the mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and the vice mayor, Begoña VillacísThey had repeatedly stated that they did not open large parks so that there were no concentrations of people. They always said that the opening of these would be studied “wisely” and with the objective of preserving the health of Madrid residents.
In addition, the Environment and Mobility area, which heads Carajante Borja, maintains vehicle restrictions on 36 sections of track so that Madrid residents have an additional 19.4 kilometers and 235,000 square meters during the de-escalation phases in which they have authorized walks and outdoor sports activities.
Six of the 36 sections that are cut exceed one kilometer in length. It is the Paseo de la Castellana (1,656 meters); Menéndez Pelayo avenue (1,620 meters); Arturo Soria street (1,490 meters); Valmojado street (1,260 meters); Arcentales Avenue (1,060) and Asturias Avenue. This exceptional plan took effect on Saturday, May 9, and will be effective. during several weekends and holidays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m..
