/ world today news/ The 14th Beijing International Film Festival, jointly organized by the China Media Group and the Capital City Municipality, was opened at the “Yenzihu” International Exhibition Center.
Ying Li, member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and general secretary of the CPC Beijing Committee, attended the opening ceremony.
In his speech, Shen Haixun, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, director of the China Media Group and chairman of the organizing committee of the current festival, pointed out that as a result of 14 years of development, the Beijing Film Festival has an increasingly international influence.
The festival will last 9 days under the motto “Light and shadow learn from each other, benefiting from each other’s path.” The total number of film submissions has reached 4,273, of which 1,509 from 118 countries and regions will apply for the Tiantan Grand Prize. Serbian director Emir Kusturica will lead an international jury at the current festival.
