“In addition to helping Ukraine, the European Union plans to activate the 13th package of sanctions against Russia on February 24.”
According to the information obtained by SIA, this was said by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, Hadja Lahbib.
The Belgian minister stressed that the delivery of ammunition and missiles to Kiev should be accelerated in order to fulfill the obligation to supply Ukraine with one million 155 mm bullets.
“Currently, we are far from reaching this goal. According to calculations, about 524,000 bullets will be sent by March, which is much lower than our target. We must take additional steps and increase production,” the minister said.
According to “Politico”, the restrictions to be applied with the 13th package of sanctions may affect Russian diplomats. Diplomats may be banned from leaving the country where they are accredited to the European Union.
The 12th package of sanctions was announced on December 18. The package banned the direct or indirect import of diamonds from Russia, as well as the sale to Russia of dual-use goods, liquefied propane, copper and aluminum wire, lithium batteries, and components for unmanned aerial vehicles.
The unanimity of all EU countries is required for the adoption of the new sanctions package.
