The 13-inch MacBook Pro could be the first Macs with ARM at the end of the year

Ming-Chi Kuo, star analyst at small world Apple, the first Macs to abandon Intel processors for chips Apple Silicon could be the most compact MacBook Pro.

The 13.3-inch pro notebooks could go into production in the fourth quarter of 2020. According to the analyst, they would be followed soon after by the MacBook Air, either in the same quarter or at the very beginning of 2021.

Next year, a 14-inch MacBook Pro and an update to the 16-inch MacBook Pro are expected. They would begin production in the second and third quarters of 2021, respectively. It is therefore quite possible that the 16-inch MacBook Pro is entitled to an update by the end of 2020, with an Intel processor, since it was launched at the end of 2019 with ninth generation Core.

The good news is that, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, the switch to ARM chips could reduce costs for Apple and encourage the American giant to reduce its prices for the MacBook Air. Also according to the analyst, Apple could sell between 18 and 20 million units for these models. This would imply a significant increase in Mac sales, since these figures correspond to the upper ranges reached in the past five years for sales of all Mac models, laptops and desktops.

The fact that Apple starts with pro notebooks would in any case be in line with what happened in the past during the transition from Macs from PowerPCs to Intel processors. Accompanied by an iMac, a MacBook Pro opened the ball for this last great historic transition.
