The 10 discussion topics that have messed up Twitter this year

It’s a safe bet that the topics of discussion that will come to the Christmas table will also be those that have generated the most debate on social networks. Like every year, Visibrain, a company specializing in social media monitoring, takes stock of the subjects that marked the French on Twitter in 2021 with its list of the most frequently cited hashtags (hashtags). Unsurprisingly, the Covid-19 is on the first step of the podium but it is down with 6.4 million tweets in French (out of a total of 81 million all languages combined).

“The coronavirus epidemic stands out, for the second time in a row, as the most commented subject of the year on Twitter. However, half the number of messages were published on the health crisis than last year (in 2020, # Covid19 = 12.9 million tweets). », Explains Visibrain. Perhaps the French are reaching saturation point? “The health crisis is currently less commented on than at the beginning of the year: 66% of tweets on the subject were published during the first half of 2021.
