That’s why Kate’s not with us

There is little doubt that the excitement has been great ahead of tonight’s football match between Denmark and Great Britain in the European Championships. As it should be, the royals are also sitting in the stands at Wembley Stadium tonight – something they have also done several times before in the championship.

One person who is admittedly missing today is Duchess Kate (39). She has in the past been in battle with Prince William (39) and their eldest son Prince George (7), but on Wednesday she had to stay home.

Even before the match, it became known that the crown prince couple of Denmark Frederik (53) and Mary (49) and their eldest son Prince Christian (15) were ready for battle. They shared a picture together on the royal house’s Instagram profile where they are clear in their speech – the victory will come home.

Before the kick-off, however, it has been unclear who from the British royal family would be present, but now it turns out that Prince William came alone to the battle. Neither Prince George nor Duchess Kate is with him today, and it is no wonder that the latter has stayed home.

See and Hear royal house expert Caroline Vagle says that football is very engaging, also in the royal circles.

– The Danish crown prince couple and the eldest son are in place in London to cheer on «the Danish boys». In the VIP grandstand they are accompanied by the British Prince William, who came alone. The last time England played, he was accompanied by his wife Kate, but she is in self-imposed isolation and must follow the match at home, says Vagle.

Isolated

Earlier this week it became known that Kate is in self-isolation after being in contact with someone who has tested positive for covid-19. It was reported by Sky News on Monday morning.

“Her Royal Highness has no symptoms, but follows all relevant guidelines from the authorities and is in solitary confinement at home,” a spokesman for Kensington Palace said at the time.

Despite William coming alone tonight, he is accompanied by many other football enthusiasts – including other royals.

– Although the representatives from the two royal families obviously cheer on their respective countries, I think the tone is good between them. The different royal families know each other well, and there is always a cordial reunion, says Caroline Vagle.
