That’s why Alec Baldwin and Geena are missing from the “Beetlejuice” sequel

The successful film “Beetlejuice”, released in 1988, is celebrating its comeback this year: Tim Burton (66) has revived the characters in the sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”. However, not all actors are reprising their roles. Among others, Alec Baldwin (66) and Geena Davis (68) will not be seen in the second part, although they were among the main actors in the first part. But there is a specific reason for this. “I think I didn’t want to just tick any boxes. Even though they were such an amazing part of the first part, I focused on something else”explains director Tim to People.

Instead of focusing on the deceased couple Adam and Barbara Maitland (played by Alec and Geena), Tim wanted to focus on the Deetz women this time. These include Lydia Deetz, played by Winona Ryder (52), Delia Deetz, played by Catherine O’Hara (70) and newcomer Astrid Deetz, played by film star Jenna Ortega (21). “A sequel like this really had to do with time. That was my hook, the three generations of mother, daughter, granddaughter. And that is the core of the whole thing”explains the successful film producer.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” will be in cinemas from September 6th. Excited fans were already able to marvel at the main actors in this constellation at the premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival. Wednesday celebrity Jenna sparkled on the red carpet in a bright red ruffled dress. Her co-stars enchanted in elegant looks consisting of black suits and floor-length gowns.
