The strong performance of SSV Ulm 1846 football against Offenbach is followed by a mixed performance against TSG Hoffenheim II. The sports management is looking for explanations.

SSV Ulm 1846
Soccer lost against TSG Hoffenheim II on Tuesday evening. With that, the sparrows have still not managed to score three times on a foreign place this season. “That was not enough,” says sports director Stephan Baierl.
Only in the final quarter of an hour did the sparrows play as hard as they actually can and thus forced a penalty in the 81st minute, which Johannes Reichert safely converted. But it was already 0: 2 from the Ulm team. Rui-Jorge Monteiro-Mendes (43.) and Andreas Ludwig (49.) had brought the hosts in the Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion in front, in both situations the Ulm defense lacked access to their opponents. In particular, the second goal shortly after the break was on the Ulm team. “I noticed it from the players, people immediately went down,” said Baierl. “The disappointment was really palpable.” And with it the uncertainty, because they had to run after a deficit again away. However, Ulm could have taken the lead in the 21st minute, but Tobias Rühle missed the opportunity alone in front of the Hoffenheim goal. “If he does that, the game is completely different,” says sports director Anton Gugelfuß. However, Rühle did not make it, which too often applied to other Ulm players in previous games. They have scored three goals in the last three games – two from penalties. Gugelfuß: “The penetrating power is missing.”

Ulm’s appearance in Hoffenheim contrasted with the strong performance in the 1-0 win against Offenbach last Friday. Against higher ranked teams in the league such as Elversberg or FSV Frankfurt – not to mention Erzgebirge Aue in the DFB Cup – the sparrows call up their performance. “If everything is fine with us, if we are rested and the tension is right, then we can beat any opponent,” explains Stephan Baierl. “But if we give a few percent less, then we can no longer catch up. Then the opponent comes into a positive flow. “The current performances are too fluctuating,” the art is to achieve consistency “.
If the defeat against Hoffenheim was not due to, that was Maximilian Reule. The new goalkeeper of the Spatzen had to replace Christian Ortag directly because he had missed training sessions because of a cold. Reule should close the hole that was created by the injury of Niclas Heimann and support Ortag and Marvin Seybold. Two goalkeepers are not enough in the Regionalliga, says Stephan Baierl.
