That’s it: laboratory meat is coming to the restaurant!

Meat created from scratch in the laboratory is almost science fiction.
And yet, today it is a reality. We remember these stem cells reproduced by scientists to create meat in their laboratory. A steak worth several tens of thousands of euros. Too expensive to land on the shelves of our supermarkets or on the tables of restaurants. And yet, with a market estimated at several billion dollars, researchers have stepped up the trials and finally managed to develop a much more affordable “meat” from chicken. To the point of being able to put it on the menu of a Singapore restaurant. The authorities have indeed given the green light for the marketing of these nuggets like no other. On the menu, a mention “cultivated in the laboratory” will warn the customer of the origin of these nuggets.
To obtain this meat, the animal’s stem cells are taken by biopsy and placed in incubators. These then reproduce the natural environment of the animal (a cow, a chicken, etc.) and the cells then gradually become muscle fibers. A solution for the future presenting, according to the designers, two major advantages: animal welfare and the possibility of feeding the whole planet because where it takes several years to raise a cow, the culture of meat in the laboratory takes only some months. The fact remains that it will be necessary to build huge laboratories if we want one day to be able to produce enough meat for the entire planet and it will be imperative to further lower production costs, which are currently significantly higher than those breeding.

Among the alternatives already available on the market, it is above all vegetarian products that are gaining market share. Why not let yourself be seduced by a vegan pita?
