The answer to the question of who is better now – Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo – will probably be a topic of dispute forever. However, the superstars have one thing in common: they have so far not been able to be replaced by their former employers.

Nobody would have thought it possible that on the transfer market in the midst of the corona pandemic, of all things, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the two flagships of global football, would change their clubs.
Messi left his heart club FC Barcelona after over two decades and joined Paris Saint-Germain. Ronaldo turned his back on Juventus and joined Manchester United for the second time in his career.

The gaps that the exceptional phenomena have left in their clubs are unimaginable. This is shown by the values that Messi and Ronaldo reeled off in their last season before the summer transfers.
–
Messi had left Barça with an outstanding 30 goals and eleven assists in LaLiga, Ronaldo was almost in no way inferior and contributed 29 goals and two assists in Serie A in his senior year in Juve.
The celebrities not only changed as top scorer in 2020/2021 in their respective country, but are still the top goalscorers for Barcelona and Juventus in calendar year 2021 at the end of the year – although they were no longer on board in the first half of 2021/2022. This fact shows how much the two world footballers are missed at their ex-clubs.
Juve and Barça stumble without the superstars
Without the goals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Juve is only 5th in the Serie A table after 19 matchdays. Barça is only in 7th place in the Primera Division and is out of the Champions League for the first time in 21 years with just two goals -Group phase eliminated.
