He was promised and Treyarch revealed and detailed the Zombies mode that will feature in Call of Duty: Vanguard, starting with this video which has been available since yesterday.
The mode will continue the Dark Aether narrative arc and the first chapter, Der Anfang, will be available when Vanguard hits the market. We were also introduced to the Dark Aether entities.
They are powerful creatures that bond with mortals and empower them through artifacts. One of them is the evil Kortifex the Deathless, who is bent on destroying the mortal realm.
It’s even worse news when we find out that Kortifex has links to Oberführer Wolfram Von List thanks to the aforementioned artifacts. Fortunately, the other entities of Kortifex – Saraxis the Shadow, Norticus the Conqueror, Inviktor the Destroyer, and Bellekar the Warlock – are revolting against him and join forces with Special Forces operatives to stop him.
This will be the premise of the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Vanguard. Players will have to choose one of these entities before leaving for Stalingrad. They will also have the opportunity to choose Runes, which allow the Dark Aether entities linked to the player to use their powers.
As of this news release, full details of how this will work have not yet been revealed, but it is becoming apparent that it will be important to how the Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies story will play out.
Along with the classic improvements, there will also be a new Altar of Covenants. This is a new random system that will be present whenever they return from an objective.
You’ll have to rescue hearts from sacrifices, but spending them on these altars will grant you one of three random upgrades. The mode will continue to expand after the game hits the market.
Zombies mode from Call of Duty: Vanguard will be available alongside the rest of the game, ie from November 5th on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
