That thriller failed because family audience did not come to the theatres: Jeethu Joseph

Jeethu Joseph is a man who became one of the best directors in Malayalam through short films. Jeethu, who started his career by directing the thriller Detective, was successful in all genres of comedy and drama.

But he became a famous director all over India with one film called Drishyam. With that, Jeethu’s thriller films also had a huge following. Drishyam, Drishyam 2, Kooman, Twelfth Man and Memories were all thriller films directed by Jeethu.

He talks about his first film Detective. Jeethu says that Detective was the film that all the young people watched then and the film failed because the family audience did not come. Jeethu told Red FM that many people had contacted after watching the film and by the time Detective was over, he had finished the script of Memories and Mummy and Me.

“The Detective representative told me at that time that we only made a loss of fifty thousand rupees. Young people were watching the film. But the family did not come to the theater.

I am in Ernakulam. He was playing shuttle that day. Then another man came along to play. That day the detective runs in the theater. He came and said, I’m not going to see any film like that. But now a movie has come out called Detective.

Some people who know me look at me like this. He said, good.. but the make is very old, but he said that a novice knows the work. When it was all over, those who were there noticed me and said, “This is the director.” When he came to know that, Pulli talked to me for a while.

A few people contacted me that day. Then I understood. A section of the audience has noticed that film. But no family has come. Because everyone thinks that some Jeethu Joseph is doing a movie with Suresh Gopi. By the time I finished Detective, I had two scripts ready. Writing while sitting. That was Mummy and me and Memories,’ said Yethu Joseph.
