That one thing in Chathikatha Chanthu that Salim Kumar left out: the director McCartin

Raffy-McCartin combo are the directors who gave Malayalees a bunch of good movies to make them laugh forever. The combo started by writing the screenplay for the film Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava and made his foray into directing with the film Pudukottaiile Pudhumanavalan. The combo, which produced hit films like Puliwal Kalyanam, Punjabi House, Superman, Hello and Chathikatha Chanthu, parted ways in 2014.

2004 release Chathikatha Chandhu is one of the most successful films of the Raffy-McCartin combo. Vikram, the dance master played by Salimkumar, was the character who made everyone laugh in the comedy film Jayasuriya Nayakanaya. Salimkumar’s catch ups and conversations are the stuff of many troll pages even today. Director McCartin shares his experiences of the film.

McCartin said that Vikram’s character mannerisms were missing from the script and much was left out of Salimkumar’s hands. McCartin said the character’s advanced hair was hand-held, and they liked it when they saw it. McCartin also said that he doubted whether such an effect would have been in the script. He was talking to Master Bin Channel.

Salimkumar is one of the characters that many people still remember in Chatikatha Chanthu. He presented very well. Many of the things we see in that picture are made by Salimkumar. The script was just what kind of person the character was. Modesty and everything else was Pulli’s contribution.

During Pulli’s intro scene and throughout the rest of the scene, the hair falling forward is blown out making a special sound. Everyone was laughing at him when they were shooting. It was something that wasn’t in the script. If we had written something like that in the first place, we wouldn’t have had the impact we’re seeing now,’ said McCartin.
