Wanted a sequel to that Mohanlal film, planned but never happened: CB Malal
Dasharatham is the best Malayalam film produced by Lohitadas – CB Malail collaboration. Dasharatham was also a movie where we saw the magnificent performance of Mohanlal. Dasharathm will end in a dead end for Mohanlal Rajeev Menon’s character in the film.
But Cibi Malail says that he felt that a second part of the film was needed to find out what happened to the character later and that he had completed the script work for it.
Cibi Malail says that the film was Rajiv Menon’s study and he was supposed to stand next to or above Dasharath, but the film did not happen. He was speaking to Mirchi Malayalam.
Dasaratha is the film I wanted a sequel to. It is left in an incomplete state. Doesn’t he have a life yet? He may still be alive.
He can’t forget that kid. At the end of the story he understood that feeling. It is not with great joy that he takes the child away. Seeing the woman’s pain and letting go.
But that goodness came to him when he asked for the character Maggie. The origin of his life was investigated. His script was ready. But it didn’t happen.
Usually when the second part of a story happens, the character moves on to something else. For example, the CBI series will only get a sequel because that character is moving on. Everything has new stories. But Dasaratha is a continuation of a story.
The second part is an examination of where this man is now thirty years later. Where is that child? What is their situation? What is Annie doing now? There are many such questions before us. The most basic question is what is Rajiv Menon’s status now?
It was a film that had to go in a different direction. If it is a second part, it should come at least with Dasaratha. It would have been a film that would have reached the same level or higher. It didn’t happen. But I don’t know if that will happen again,’ says CB Malail.
