That is why TV 2 chooses to broadcast “Kompani Lauritzen” despite criticism

On 28 February, Sofie Sinnes (15), board member of Oslo Grønn Ungdom, wrote that TV 2 should have postponed the premiere date for Kompani Lauritzen.

Sinnes criticizes the channel’s choice to broadcast the program, despite the war now unfolding in Ukraine. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has affected the world news since 24 February.

“In my eyes, broadcasting a program like ‘Kompani Lauritzen’ right now is going over the limit of what’s okay,” she writes in Aftenposten’s Si; D column.

In Aftenposten’s Si; D column, young adults between the ages of 13 and 21 can have the opportunity to write a debate post with their own opinions on various topics.

Sinnes also criticizes TV 2 for choosing to hold a closed premiere partythe same day the war broke out.

TV 2’s program editor, Kathrine Haldorsen, replies that the channel has toned down parts of the promotion of “Kompani Lauritzen” due to the war in Ukraine, but has chosen to broadcast the program as it is an entertainment program.

– Right now we, like the rest of the world, are shaken by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Such a large event obviously affects everyday life in a media house like TV 2, but this primarily applies to our news department, which has staffed and changed the broadcast schedule, she tells TV2.no.

– Our entertainment programs are less affected by the news picture. Although “Kompani Lauritzen” has a military framework, the program has few parallels to what is happening in Europe now, she continues.

Haldorsen concludes by explaining that the program is a purely entertainment program where participants can test their own limits. The focus is on stories of mastery and unity, and therefore not the military itself.

You see Company Lauritzen on Wednesday at 21.40 and Saturdays at 20 on TV 2, and when you want to watch TV 2 Play.
