In Oberhausen they rub their hands that they are having a home game against KFC start the season. But Essen, Aachen, Münster and many others are also far more staffed. Can Uerdingen leave six competitors behind, including Homberg, Wegberg-Beeck, Lippstadt or Ahlen?

In addition, the team goes into the season almost unprepared. While others have been training and playing test matches since the end of June, the KFC in Oppum only completes a few training units with test players. There is therefore considerable doubt that the players are physically on par with the competition. However, there is no doubt that it will not be a homogeneous unit that the blue-reds send into the race. On top of that, the team is led by a duo who have no experience in the senior sector or in the regional league. That doesn’t necessarily have to be bad, but it is at least a disadvantage and also a great risk.

There is even less clarity about the economic conditions. What is certain is that the tax office is demanding around half a million euros. The solution hoped for by the KFC leadership provides for the former investor Mikhail Ponomarev to come to an agreement with the tax office and pay off the debt. The entrepreneur, who is now bailing out Wacker Innsbruck with two million euros, is said to have submitted a proposal to the tax authorities, but the authorities still need time to review it.
–
But since time is of the essence, the incumbent board is said to have presented a different solution: The tax office should defer the debt. Then the club’s management would finally be able to act and conclude contracts: with players, coaches, the so-called home ground in Velbert and many others.
–
In this case, however, further questions arise: Would the KFC have to pay off the debt on a monthly basis? In full height? Over what period of time?
–
The KFC is in a dire situation – with debts, without a competitive team. An end to the downward spiral, which continues to turn in sporting and economic terms, is not yet in sight. The goodwill of some will not be enough to handle the situation.
