A lot is happening for travelers and commuters: On December 12th, Deutsche Bahn changed its timetable. Since Monday, a special timetable from the Bremer Straßenbahn AG (BSAG) has also been in effect due to staff shortages and the Bremen / Lower Saxony transport association (VBN) has also issued innovations. An overview of the changes in Bremen and Bremerhaven.

Deutsche Bahn

Deutsche Bahn has expanded its range of long-distance trains to the North Sea coast. One of the new features is an Intercity, which runs daily from Bremerhaven to Cologne via Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Bremen, Osnabrück, Münster and Düsseldorf – and back. Norddeich Mole will also have a free intercity connection to Frankfurt / Main. The East Frisian coast will be opened up for new regions, the railway announced.

From Bremen and Osnabrück, more and faster ICE direct connections to Frankfurt Airport and Stuttgart are to be used in the future. On the route from Hamburg via Hanover and Göttingen to Bavaria, additional ICEs are to supplement the offer during the week. Göttingen is also receiving a new direct connection from Vienna via Passau.

In addition, the trains used in the north-west will be more comfortable and modern, promises the Deutsche Bahn. In some cases, new ICE trains with more than 900 seats would be used. Further information is available on the Deutsche Bahn website.

BSAG

A special timetable has been in effect at BSAG since Monday, December 13th. The reason: There are more and more cancellations of scheduled trips, which is caused by a tense personnel situation, especially in the transport service, according to the company.

For the time being, the timetable in Bremen-Stadt has been adjusted from Monday to Friday. The changes affect almost all lines. At the weekend and in Bremen-Nord the offer remains unchanged. Lines that are in high demand – for example in school traffic and for commuters – will not be changed or increased by additional journeys.

Among other things, the 4S line is not available during rush hour. Instead, according to BSAG, line 4 runs every 7.5 minutes between Arsten and Borgfeld.
