Thanksgiving Bronx Fire – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – Two people have died after a morning apartment fire in the Bronx, according to New York City firefighters.

The FDNY was called to Harrison Avenue in the Morris Heights section shortly before 5:30 am Thursday about a fire on the second floor of an apartment building. Rescuers transported four people to hospital and eventually brought the flames under control, authorities said.

An NYPD spokesman later confirmed two deaths in connection with the fire. One of the victims was a 24-year-old woman and the other a 60-year-old man. Officials have not released her identity.

It is unclear how the fire started and an investigation is ongoing.
