Colima, Col.- Efforts made by Health Sector institutions in the state of Colima have paid off, as it was observed this year 2022 that cases of vaccine-preventable diseases, such as polio and measles, have not circulated in l body, said the Secretary of Health of the Government of the State of Colima, within the Council for vaccinations (Coeva).
He stressed that health institutions must continue to make an effort to obtain security coverage and thus ensure that these diseases do not return and affect the population of Colima.
At the sixth ordinary meeting of Coeva 2022, speaking on behalf of the Secretary of Health, Martha Janeth Espinosa Mejía, the head of the Epidemiology Sub-Directorate, Diana Carrasco Alcántara, reported that two National Public Health Conferences were held this year, where there were vaccination actions.
Similarly, seasonal influenza vaccination operations and hexavalent vaccine dose recovery operations were carried out, trying to help prevent the re-emergence of polio in our environment, and against the human papilloma virus (HPV) , to help reduce the incidence of cervical-uterine cancer cases.
During this session, the analysis of vaccination coverage for the first quarter of 2022 was carried out (doses applied by type of biological, by age group and institution, with emphasis on SRP) and the trend of vaccination against SARS was reported -CoV.-2 , where there was a progress of 61% overall with one million 088 thousand 339 doses applied to 349 thousand 309 residents of Colima with a complete two-dose scheme.
Furthermore, the monitoring report of the seasonal flu campaign for the 2022-2023 winter season was presented, which records a 77% progress in the application of 144,078 of the 185,431 doses envisaged, and the progress of the dose recovery operation of HPV vaccination (40% advanced with 4,860 doses applied).
