Tennis: no change in the Top 10 is to report, neither for women nor for men. Casper Ruud comes close.
If the world top 10 has not moved one iota, Casper Ruud has again climbed two positions, to find himself 12th in the ATP ranking published on Monday. The Norwegian triumphed on Sunday in Kitzbühel, winning his third title in a row after having already removed the meetings of Bastad and Gstaad. The 22-year-old right-hander from Oslo has the highest ranking of his career.
The Tokyo Olympic tournament, which saw Germany’s Alexander Zverev deck out his gold rackets, offered no ATP points. The top of the hierarchy therefore remains unchanged with, in order, the Serbian Novak Djokovic, the Russian Daniil Medvedev, the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas and Zverev. Switzerland’s Roger Federer is 9th while David Goffin has retained his 20th place.
American John Isner, winner of the Atlanta tournament on Sunday for the sixth time in his career, climbed five places to find himself 30th.
The Spaniard Pedro Martinez (ATP 76) and the American Brandon Nakashima (ATP 89), respectively finalists in Kitzbühel and Atlanta, achieved the performances of the week with progressions of 21 and 26 places.
On the Belgian side, Zizou Bergs remained in the top 200 at the last minute but lost three places (ATP 199) while Kimmer Coppejans retained his 212th place. Ruben Bemelmans (ATP 224 / + 3) and Michael Geerts (ATP 317 / -1) follow.

No change in the world top 10, Elise Mertens remains 17th
While the Olympic tennis tournament was punctuated by the victory of the Swiss Belinda Bencic, the top 10 of the WTA world ranking, published on Monday, shows no change. Elise Mertens is in 17th place. The only movement in the top 20 is the gain of a place by the American Jennifer Brady, now 14th ahead of the Belarusian Victoria Azarenka.
At the top, the Australian Ashleigh Barty retains her first place in the world ahead of the Japanese Naomi Osaka. Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, 3rd, completed the podium. Bencic remains 12th in the world because the Tokyo meeting did not offer any points in the WTA ranking.
Behind Elise Mertens, irremovable Belgian N.1, is Alison Van Uytvanck (61st / -2), the only other Belgian to appear in the top 100. Kirsten Flipkens (WTA 105 / -1), Greet Minnen (WTA 111 / -1 ), Maryna Zanevska (WTA 115) and Ysaline Bonaventure (WTA 127 / + 1) are not far away.
In the doubles standings, Elise Mertens, winner of the Australian Open and Wimbledon this season, retains her first place in the world ahead of the Czech pair formed by Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova.
