Paralympics 2024 – Blind football: Frédéric Villeroux frees the Blues! . (France TV)
The Tricolores won (1-0) on Thursday in Paris, thanks to a goal at the end of the match by their captain.
Twelve years later, the Blues are back in the Paralympic final in blind football. After a tough match where they had to meet the physical challenge offered by Colombia, the Tricolores won their semi-final at the Paris Paralympic Games on Thursday, September 5, and thus booked their ticket for Saturday’s final (8 p.m.). Salvation came in the 26th minute (out of 30) from captain Frédéric Villeroux, who managed to deceive Jhohan Ardila Cardenas’ vigilance on his eighth attempt of the match.
Until this liberating goal, the two teams had traded blows with chances on both sides, including several for the scorer of the evening, still as active on the front of the French attack. The Blues now await a new South American opponent for the final. It will be Brazil, which has won every edition of the Paralympic Games since the introduction of blind football in 2004, or Argentina.
