The “Sultans of the Net”, who started the match very well, established a 7-3 advantage at the beginning of the match, where they served well. A National Women’s Volleyball Team, which attacked well with Meryem Boz and Zehra Güneş, also got good headlines in defense. Adding the number of blocks to effective attacks, Turkey won the first set 25-17 with a comfortable game and took a 1-0 lead.
In the second set, where the national team received bad headlines, South Korea served well and established a 17-7 superiority. South Korea won the second set 25-17 and balanced the sets 1-1.
Turkey started the third set with very bad headlines and South Korea gave Guidetti a time-out with a 5-1 advantage. Bringing the balance to the set at 15-15 with the number of blocks, the crescent-star team also took the lead with the good play of captain Eda Erdem Dündar and went ahead 17-16.
The Sultans of the Net, who fell back 23-21 at the end of the set, brought the balance back to the game at 24-24. Unable to evaluate the number of sets in 25-24, the national team lost the set 28-26 and fell back 2-1.
Starting the fourth set with Şeyma Ercan’s effective serves, Turkey established an advantage of 11-5. The Turkish National Women’s Volleyball Team won the set 25-18, influenced by Tuğba Şenoğlu’s points, bringing the balance to the sets: 2-2.
In the fifth and last set, which will determine the team that will make it to the semi-finals, Tuğba Şenoğlu’s points scored in a row, Turkey gained a 6-3 advantage in the score. Having difficulty in killing the balls on offense, the national team went 8-7 behind to change the field. In the last episode, which was the scene of great excitement, the nationals, who received bad headlines, were eliminated by losing the set 15-13 and 3-2, and completed Tokyo 2020 in the top 8. With this result, South Korea became the first team to reach the semi-finals.
South Korea will face the winner of the Brazil-Russia Olympic Committee match in the semi-finals.
