THANK YOU Hankook! – this year too

THANK YOU Hankook! program is specifically aimed at the residents of Dunaújváros and its surroundings and is implemented with the help of the tire factory’s employees. In 2022, they carried out various environmental beautification projects in 11 settlements in Fejér, Bács-Kiskun and Tolna counties: 34 nurseries, kindergartens, schools and community spaces were renewed thanks to their work. The company contributed nearly 20 million forints to the success of voluntary projects last year, and more than 130 million forints in recent years.

Civic square in the heart of the city

In the anniversary year, KÖSZ volunteers beautified and renovated the area of the Baracsi út Arboretum and Nature Trail in Dunaújváros by installing benches, renovating old ones, and creating a barefoot path. In addition to conservation and renovation works, the goal was to create a civic space in the heart of the city. “In 2022, we surrounded a previously free area behind the Lovarda building, where we also created a paddock, and the rack sheep have already arrived here. We made a new garden picnic table and forest benches from logs. The workers from Hankook and us, the volunteers, beautified this area together, which is extremely important for the people who live here, since in the arboretum you can retreat a little into nature even within the city.” – said the originator Csaba Orosz, curator of the Public Foundation for the Public Safety of Dunaújváros and its Region, who has already participated in many KÖSZ programs.

Active help

With the program, Hankook Tire Magyarország Kft. creates an opportunity for the company’s employees to decide on the direction and use of the financial support provided by the company. In this way, institutions and organizations with which the colleagues have a personal connection can receive grants. The basic principle of the program is that our employees and the representatives of the supported organizations do voluntary work in groups for the benefit of the communities of their own place of residence.

“We had several goals with this program. On the one hand, it is to support the surrounding settlements, and on the other hand, to do this actively with the help of our employees. The last 10 years have proven that this was a good decision. I am happy to tell you: we will continue. THANK YOU Hankook! We will also launch the Employee Value-Creating Voluntary Program in 2023. We will report on the details soon” said Anett Szalai, KÖSZ Hankook project coordinator.
