Brazilian footballer Dani Alves announced on Wednesday that he would leave the Spanish club FC Barcelona for the second time, to which he returned last November.

The 39-year-old far back signed the contract by the end of the season and has now confirmed that it will not extend it. During his second career, he played 16 matches for the Catalan club, scored a goal and added three assists.

“I want to thank everyone at the club for the opportunity they gave me to come back and wear that beautiful jersey again. You don’t even know how happy I am,“he said on social media.

Alves first came to Barcelona in the summer of 2008 and left for Juventus Turin eight years later. He played a total of 407 matches for the Catalans, scored 26 goals and passed on to 87. With the Camp Nou team, he won La Liga six times, the Champions League three times and the Copa del Rey four times.

He also worked in Seville, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and before returning to Barca in FC Sao Paulo.

He still plays in the Brazilian national team, where he wears a captain’s armband, and is expected to perform at the World Championships in Qatar. He played 125 duels in the national jersey and scored eight goals.
