– Thank God it’s not serious – VG

Riwal-Securitas cyclist August Jensen (29) was involved in the sprint of the Scheldeprijs, but was knocked down by an ugly overturn just before the finish.

– Yes, he was the one who overturned, but he is doing well now. He is doing well, says sports manager in Riwal-Securitas Pro Cycling Team, Michael Skelde.

Just before the finish line in the traditional race, the field was gathered, and the battle for positions intensified. Then three of the cyclists went downhill, and the 29-year-old shopkeeper was hit the hardest.

– It was a crash at high speed, and of course it looks ugly. But all in all, it will go well with him, even if he has to take a couple of days to recover, says Skelde.

The worst hit was Jensen, who stayed long behind the others. The TV pictures showed that he was supervised by medical personnel, and he was apparently bleeding from several wounds.

– It does not seem that anything is broken, and we could talk to him and get in touch with him. Thank God it’s not more serious. It will go well with him, says Skelde only ten minutes after the finish.

Pascal Ackermann actually came in second, but was disqualified after causing the rollover. Australian Caleb Ewan (Lotto) won the race.

Alexander Kristoff also started in Belgium, but was an assistant rider for teammate Jasper Philipsen.
