El Al resumes direct flights to India after a three-year hiatus. The company will fly to two destinations, Mumbai and New Delhi, starting at the end of October 2023. The operation of the new routes is now possible following the approval of the flight on the short route over Saudi Arabia and Oman, which shortens the duration of the flight to Mumbai to only 5.5 hours, compared to almost 8 hours as it was previously.
Ticket sales will start next month at prices starting at $399. El Al will operate four weekly flights to Mumbai (BOM), on a 737 aircraft, and two weekly flights to New Delhi (DEL), on a wide-body 787 aircraft.
El Al will be the only airline to offer direct flights to both destinations, with connecting flights to dozens of further destinations in India, in cooperation with local airlines.
Shlomi Zafarani, VP of Commercial and Aviation Relations at El Al, says: “We are excited to launch the new destinations in India, which is possible following the approval to fly over the skies of Oman. We anticipate high demand for flights, there is extensive business activity between the countries and also a constant increase in tourism from India to Israel. This is a favorite holiday destination for Israelis, whether it is backpacking, family trips or organized trips. We continue to work for the expansion of additional destinations in the East and other popular destinations.”
