Thalys train traffic jammed for hours after a collision in Belgium

The passengers in the train were removed from the stranded train by the fire brigade after about 2.5 hours, reports the Belgian broadcaster RTBF. Until then, no one was allowed to leave the train, while the air conditioning did not work. But the problems didn’t end there.

Power off

The power on the route remained switched off, so that no Thalys train could continue. People complained that trains were standing still at the stations for four hours or more, and the air conditioning in those aircraft had also failed. The crowds at the Gare de Nord station in Paris were immense:

Many Dutch people are stranded in Paris and have to spend the night there. They were advised to continue their journey on Saturday. “However, this is not possible via the Thalys because the trains for Saturday are fully booked,” a service employee of the train company reported via the Twitter account.

Earlier this month, the Thalys also had problems due to a train failure. About two hundred passengers were then forced to spend the night in a stranded train at Gare du Nord.
