For exceptional performance in the field musical was given to Thalia by Erika Stárková for the role of the Girl in the production Lazarus of the Prague Comedy Theater. According to the jury, Stárková reigns not only as an actor with the receptivity and impression of an immediate illusion, but also as a singer. She appreciated her conception of the song Life on Mars by David Bowie, which according to the jury is the highlight of the performance.

Pavel Režný succeeded in the same category of men, he received the award for the role of Death in the production of Elisabeth of the JK Tyl Theater Plzeň. According to the jury, Režný performs a comprehensive performance, he did not hesitate even in very demanding positions.

V kategorii opera received the Jana Šrejma Kačírková Award for her role as Julietta in the production Three Fragments from Juliette / The Human Voice of the Brno National Theater. According to the jury, the soprano of Šrejma Kačírková is full of sparkle and dramatic urgency. According to her, she expressed both the cheerfully carefree female coquetry of Julietta and the loneliness of a woman who is torn between despair and glimpses of hope in an effort to save a relationship.

Of the men, Lukáš Zeman received the award for the role of Count Almaviva in the production Figaro’s Wedding of the Silesian Theater in Opava. According to the jury, Zeman dominated the role of the count as “a jealous angry freak and a flying wicker”.

Award for outstanding performance in the field ballet, dance and movement theater received, just like last year, Alina Nanu for the role of Tatiana in the production of Onegin at the Prague National Theater. According to the jury, she used her solo experience and demonstrated the growing level of her performing arts.

In the same field of men, Ondřej Vinklát succeeded with the role of Josef K. in the production Kafka: The Process of the National Theater in Prague. Vinkláta ranks among the absolute top in the field of dance, is a versatile artist, has excellent technique and energy.

Thalia Award in the category puppet Theater won by actor Ondřej Nosálek for the role of Zátopek in the production Zá-to-pek! from the repertoire of the Minor Prague Theater. According to the jury, Nosálek is characterized by maximum commitment and concentration. According to her, in the production she performs another of her complex acting performances combining puppetry and elements of physical theater.

V kategorii alternative theater succeeded Jakub Gottwald for the production Ur-fascism of the project STK Theater Concept and Landscape of the Tide Prague.

The Thalia Award for Young was also announced artists under 33, which was acquired by Josef Láska from the East Bohemian Theater in Pardubice. Jaroslav Vostrý received the Czech Academy of Theater Award for extraordinary contribution to Czech theater. Cameraman Josef Špelda received the award for spreading theatrical art on television. He also works as a teacher at FAMU, for example, he shot Saturnina.

The National Theater in Prague had the most nominations

“Twenty-one theaters appeared in narrower nominations, the most nominations, ten, were won by the National Theater in Prague, one less by the JK Tyl Theater in Pilsen and eight by the Moravian-Silesian National Theater in Ostrava,” said Ondřej Kepka, President of the Actors’ Association.

The previously organizing Actors’ Association announced that Hana Bauerová and Josef Abrhám, Jan Malík for the opera, dancer Aneta Voleská and musical actress Hana Talpová will win prizes for their life’s work in the play.

This year, Thalia was announcing for the 27th time. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the announcement was made online from the BEA channel studio in Olomouc. The nominees connected via video transmission.
