“Thailand’s Ko Kradan Island to Close to Tourists for Four Months Annually to Preserve Ecosystem”

According to “Nation Thailand”, referring to the head of the Hat Chao Mai National Park located on the island’s territory, Maya Preet, the area will remain closed to tourists for four months a year from June 1 to September 30.

According to him, tourists are still welcome on Ko Kradan Island, but they must make efforts to preserve its unique ecosystem, including coral reefs and marine life.

Pritt pointed out that there are endangered fish species in the sea around the island, and it is necessary to inform tourists about this.

Ko Kradan Island is located in Trang Province, southern Thailand in the Andaman Sea.

It is known for its white sand beaches lined with palm trees, but its shallow, clear waters attract snorkelers. One side of the island is famous for its exciting sunrises, and the other for no less picturesque sunsets.

Previously, in Thailand, the popular “Maya Bay” beach was also closed to tourists for 3.5 years – for the restoration of the ecosystem, which has suffered greatly due to an excessive influx of tourists, writes UNIAN.

Maya Bay Beach, located on the island of Ko Phi Phi Le in Krabi Province, became popular among tourists after the release of the film “The Beach” by British director Danny Boyle in 2000, in which Leonardo DiCaprio played the main role.

Several thousand tourists visited the site every day, but eventually the local ecosystem could not withstand such an influx of people.
