Royal Government Thailand will give one million plants ganja for free to homes in the country from June.
The gift of the plant was made to celebrate the new rule that people are allowed to grow marijuana in their homes.
According to the Minister of Health of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, in a Facebook post, this policy was implemented so that the cannabis plant could be developed like a household plant.
“This will make the community and the government more than 10 billion baht in profit [4,2 triliun] per year from marijuana,” wrote Anutin on Tuesday (10/2).
As reported CNN, Thailand will enforce permits to grow marijuana in households on June 9. Since then, Thais have been allowed to grow marijuana after notifying their local government.
The condition is that the marijuana planted is at a medical level and is only used specifically for health. Cannabis cultivation results can not be used for commercial purposes.
This policy was also taken by the Thai government to promote marijuana as a sales crop.
Thailand was the first country in Southeast Asia to allow the use of medical marijuana in 2018.
The Thai government also allows the use of marijuana in beverages and cosmetics.
However, companies wishing to use marijuana in their products must keep the ingredient limit at less than 0.2 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The content is the part of marijuana that makes people drunk.
