Thailand achieved a crushing victory over Brunei with a score of 5-0 in their opening match of Group A AFF Cup 2022 marked by a new history carved striker Terasil Dangda.
Playing at Kuala Lumpur Stadium, Malaysia on Tuesday (20/12) WIB evening, Thailand won 2-0 in the first half. Each goal was scored by Bordin Phala on 19′ and Teerasil Dangda (44′).
A goal scored by Teerasil Dangda made him the all-time top scorer of the AFF Cup with a collection of 19 goals.
In the second half, Team Gajah Perang added to their collection of goals through the suicide of Brunei Putera defender Pengiran Yunos and a brace scored by Peeradol Chamrasamee.
Thailand, who dominated the match, had a hard time penetrating Brunei’s tightly packed defence. However, the experience and quality of Alexandre Polking’s team finally managed to break the concentration of the hosts.
This win puts Thailand at the top of Group A table with three points. While the second position is occupied by Cambodia who had previously won 3-2 over the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the Indonesia national team will play their first match against Cambodia at Bung Karno Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta on Friday (23/12).
