Thailand lifted the corona measures for travelers introduced on Sunday a day later. The country announced last weekend that it would again ask travelers for a vaccination or recovery certificate.
Asking for a vaccination or recovery certificate is “inconvenient,” said Thai Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. The measure would also not be necessary, because enough people have been vaccinated. That is why the obligation will be lifted immediately and unvaccinated travelers are therefore also welcome.
The renewed entry restriction was announced due to the increase in the krone figures in China. The People’s Republic reopened its borders last weekend. This made travel between China and Thailand possible again.
The measure was immediately criticized because it was introduced abruptly. The tourism sector has stressed that compulsory vaccination could harm tourism in the country.
Thailand is a popular destination for tourists to the region. From China alone, the health minister says he expects between seven and ten million travelers this year. Last year, nearly twelve million tourists visited the country.
