Hong Kong (CNN) At a theme park in Pattaya, eastern Thailand, a bungee jump rope snapped and a man fell into the water. The man survived by swimming on his own despite suffering bruises. There are videos on the internet showing this moment.
A 39-year-old tourist from Hong Kong tried bungee jumping from a height of 10 stories in January this year. However, just before he reached the surface, his rope snapped and he fell into the water.
“I fell on my left side, so I was badly injured on that side,” the man told CNN. “It was like being beaten up.”
A man who was with her filmed the moment the rope broke and she fell. The accident happened at the theme park “Chantai Thappraya Safari” in the northwest part of Pattaya. You can enjoy activities such as ziplining and live ammunition shooting.
The man said he came to the park to try his hand at shooting, and that a friend encouraged him to bungee jump. “I closed my eyes because it was really high. I was going to open my eyes when it bounced back,” he said. “When I opened my eyes, the rope broke and I was surrounded by water.”
The man managed to float to the surface and said that he swam on his own with both legs still tied to the bungee rope. The park refunded the bungee fee, adding that he paid for the x-rays and ultrasounds he had in Thailand.

The park’s founders also confirmed the incident, saying it was the first time a rope had broken.
The founder said that the man had signed a liability waiver form in advance, and emphasized, “The staff explained that if there was a mistake or accident, the company would compensate for medical expenses, but they could not claim damages.” He added that if he received treatment in Hong Kong, he would also pay for the medical expenses.
