The Football Federation of Thailand (FAT) has released the results of an investigation into the commotion at the 2023 SEA Games final against Indonesia, last May 16. Thirapak Prueangna became one of those involved.

FAT sanctioned a ban on defending the national team for Prueangna for 6 months. Now, his club also sanctioned him.

Buriram United, the club that owns Thirapak Prueangna, also sanctioned their young player.

Reported by Siam Sport, Buriram United imposed sanctions on Thirapak Prueangna heavier than FAT. The player who is on loan at Ayutthaya United was sentenced to a 5-month ban and a 25 percent salary reduction while suspended.

Buriram United is reported to have used the 2023 SEA Games as a lesson for its players, especially young players. The club asks players to maintain their image, especially for the country.

Buriram is also said to be banning players from defending the national team if they cannot comply with these rules. Even if summoned, Buriram would not support him.

Thirapak Prueangna became one of two players involved in a commotion in the 2023 SEA Games football final. The other one was goalkeeper Soponwit Rakyart, who punched Komang Teguh, the Indonesian defender.

In total, the FAT punished five people for the racket. The other three are U-22 Thai national team staff, one of which is the goalkeeping coach.

Thailand themselves lost 2-5 to Indonesia in that match. The Garuda team successfully won a gold medal from the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.
