As usual at the Venetian festival, it is in a cozy atmosphere that the Argentine director Lucrecia Martel presented the supreme award (the Golden Lion) of the 2019 edition of the Show has Todd Phillips. Director of War Dogs (2016) and the comic trilogy Very Bad Tripproducer of the blockbuster Project (2012) and the musical film A Star is Born (2018), the New York filmmaker entered the pantheon of thriller masters with his feature film, Joker.
In the rankings of the Venice festival, the film compared to Scorsese was even ahead of the very controversial Roman Polanski, whose film on the Dreyfus affair, I accusewon the Silver Lion and the grand jury prize.

Joaquin Phoenix has a lot to do with the success of this spin-off of Batman (much better than the second part currently in theaters), which focuses on the genesis of the Joker, the Batman’s sworn enemy.

His insane interpretation, marked by a sardonic laugh that haunts the viewer and a physical metamorphosis (he lost around twenty kilos for this role), is greatly praised by the press and the public.
The interpreter of Johnny Cash (in Walk the Line by James Mangold) won the Oscar for best actor in 2020 for his unhinged performance.
