The Mancomunidad de Debabarrena has expanded the collection capacity of containers for clothing and textile products and, as of this year, other items such as books, toys, jewelry and bazaar waste, such as figures and bazaar, may be deposited in them. similar items. “The objective is to selectively collect the maximum number of waste that, due to its type, is easy to reuse, so that from now on this type of product may also be deposited in the containers that had been used for clothing and textiles”, indicated from the Debabarrena Commonwealth.
This function will be carried out by the Koopera company, after being awarded the tender called by the Debabarrena Commonwealth. This non-profit company will therefore be in charge of managing the 35 containers for collecting used clothing and other reusable waste installed in the eight municipalities of the region. Five of these containers are located in Elgoibar and, as stipulated in the agreement reached between the Debabarrena Mancomunidad and Koopera, the material collection work will be carried out three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) during daytime hours.
In 2019, 47.49% of the waste collected by Koopera was reused and 37.63% was recycled, leaving only 14.88% for its energy recovery. Koopera achieves this reuse rate thanks, to a great extent, to the two stores it has in the region under the name Koopera Store. One of the establishments is located at Calle Goienkale 7 in Ermua and the other at Calle Zuloagatarren, 5, in Eibar.
