The live broadcast of LTV from London started at 12 pm Latvian time. The funeral ceremony in Westminster Abbey began at 13:00 Latvian time.

British Queen Elizabeth II deceased September 8 at the age of 96. Elizabeth II was the ruler of the United Kingdom for more than 70 years. After her death as King of Great Britain became the eldest son of Elizabeth II, Charleswho will be known as King Charles III.

The solemn funeral ceremony was held at Westminster Abbey in London. Several hundred foreign leaders and senior officials were invited, for a total of 2,000 guests. Among them were also the monarchs of different European countries, the President of the United States Joe Biden with Mrs. Jill, also Latvian President Egils Levits with Mrs Andra.

Elizabeth II’s coffin was moved from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey in a short procession at 12:44 pm. The funeral ceremony began at 1pm and lasted about an hour; at its conclusion, the whole of Britain observed a two-minute moment of silence.

At 2.15pm, the funeral procession left Westminster Abbey for Wellington Arch near Hyde Park. There, the queen’s coffin was transferred to another hearse, which left for Windsor Castle outside London after 3pm. There, the queen will be buried in the Chapel of St. George together with her husband, Prince Philip.
