Austin.— The Government of Texas authorized a budget of 495.3 million dollars to finance the Lone Star operation and thus reinforce border security.
Of that amount, $465.3 million will go to fund the deployment of the Texas National Guard.
“Texas will not stand by as President Biden continues to turn a blind eye to the crisis at our southern border,” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
He stressed that the safety and security of Texans is his top priority, noting that he will continue to fight to keep communities safe.
“This additional funding ensures that the state is fully equipped to provide Texans with the border security strategy they demand and deserve,” he said.
The approval of the transfer of resources was approved by the Government of Texas, as well as by the lieutenant governor, Dan Patrick; President Dade Phelan; Senate Finance Committee Chair Joan Huffman; and House Appropriations Committee Chairman Greg Bonnen.
It will address immediate border security needs, while continuing to assess future funding needed to protect Texans.
